ONLINE COUNSELLING works the same way as the more traditional face-to-face sessions. It is underpinned by the same values and principles and is proven to have delivered equal quality service and results as face-to-face interventions.
Video call therapy further breaks down the constraints to accessibility, time restrictions and gives a client an extra layer of anonymity. It gives you greater flexibility over when and where the sessions are executed, letting you access talking therapy from the comfort of your familiar surroundings or from wherever in the world you are. All you need is an electronic device with a secure internet connection and a quiet space.
Email therapy offers even more freedom and a complete anonymity, since you can type up an email with anything that is on your mind day or night, when you are in the zone and ready to share.
VIDEO CALL COUNSELLING
Online counselling via a video call platform is carried out via Zoom videoconferencing platform. Your session invitation will be emailed to you. All you need is your Zoom account on your laptop or other device with a secure internet connection for the safety of all activities you carry out on your device, including your therapy session.
Zoom videoconferencing platform has been designed for confidential use and it is of a high-level of security, recognised as safe and secure to use for counselling professions by the BACP guidelines.
The Initial Consultation session is a great opportunity for us to meet online for the very first time and a change to establish whether we can work together. I will go through an assessment form with you in order to collect any information needed for counselling purposes. I will run through our service agreement and clarify any points if needed. It is vital that we use this session to get to know each other
a little and to take care of the ‘business’ side of therapy before our first official counselling session.
This is your time with me to explore anything that is concerning you or weighing you down. You can share anything you feel needs your immediate attention. I can help you explore your feelings and thoughts around any issues and help you find your own ways to cope and manage better. You will gradually become more self-aware and confident in yourself to make your informed decisions.
The V-Check-in Session can be used to acknowledge your current feelings or worries and to share them with me if there is nobody else around or you prefer to share in confidence. We can work out tips for some more practical help and help you find resources: this is distinct to a regular Video Call counselling session (Classic V-Session). The session can be used as an extra ‘check-in’ time with me between our regular therapy sessions. It is also for anyone who does not require a regular therapy and would like some ‘sharing’ space and help with resources now and then.
